Dr. Huck joined the Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education department as a teaching faculty and undergraduate program director in the Fall of 2023. He is a certified rehabilitation counselor as well as a licensed professional counselor. Dr. Huck has served in a variety of clinical settings. He has nearly 15 years of clinical experience, primarily serving individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, in addition to other broad experiences in vocational rehabilitation and neuropsychology. Prior to his appointment at UW, Dr. Huck was a tenured associate professor of rehabilitation and human services at the Hazleton branch of Penn State University, where he was employed for eight years. During his academic career, Dr. Huck has gained extensive experience as an undergraduate and graduate educator. Dr. Huck has also been actively involved in research, publishing over 25 peer-reviewed manuscripts on topics including quality of life outcomes for people living with alopecia areata, health promotion for people living with severe mental illness, and best practices in undergraduate rehabilitation education. Most recently, in 2023, Dr. Huck served as the President of the Pennsylvania Rehabilitation Association and is an active member of the National Rehabilitation Association. He also was honored as the 2023 Penn State University Faculty Advisor of the Year in addition to being honored as Penn State Hazleton’s Faculty Researcher of the Year. Dr. Huck is proud University of Wisconsin system graduate, earning his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the UW-Whitewater and both his master’s and doctoral degrees in Rehabilitation Psychology at UW-Madison.
