Accreditation

The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling master’s program and Rehabilitation Counselor Education PhD program at University of Wisconsin–Madison are currently accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) as a rehabilitation counseling program. The program curricula are aligned with all CACREP accreditation standards.

Graduates of the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program also meet the educational requirements to apply to the state of Wisconsin for the Licensed Professional Counselor-In Training (LPC-IT) license.

PhD Program Outcomes

During the 2024-2025 academic year*:

  • ​17 students were enrolled in the Rehabilitation Counselor Education doctoral program.
  • 4 students graduated from the program with 100% of students finding employment within 6 months of graduation.
  • 100% of enrolled students received funding at .50 FTE as teaching assistants or projects assistants (or comparable fellowship) and tuition remission during the academic year
  • 100% of students passed their preliminary exams

The overall degree completion rate for the Rehabilitation Counselor Education PhD program for students who started the program between 2014-2022 is 83%.
