Andrea L. Ruppar, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research focuses on inclusive education and access to the general curriculum for students with autism and developmental disabilities, special education teacher preparation and practice, and the social and organizational contexts that shape decisions in special education. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and practitioner resources. Her work has been supported by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), the Institute for Education Sciences (IES), and the Spencer Foundation. Dr. Ruppar is an active leader in TASH, a research and advocacy organization focused on individuals with the most significant disabilities, and serves on the editorial boards of Teacher Education and Special Education, Exceptional Children, Remedial and Special Education, Education and Training in Autism and Developmental Disabilities, and Research and Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities. She is the inaugural co-editor of Inclusive Practices, a research-to-practice journal published by TASH. She co-authored the text Equitable and Inclusive IEPs for Students with Complex Support Needs (Ruppar & Kurth, 2023), and was a editorial contributor to High Leverage Practices and Students with Extensive Support Needs (Pennington et al., 2023) and the 4th edition of COACH: Choosing Outcomes and Accommodations for Children (Giangreco et al., 2026). Dr. Ruppar is accepting Ph.D. students for the upcoming academic year.
